What is the problem?

Mobile traffic has increased from 5% - 50% over the last 5 years.

It is forecasted to increase to between 70-80% in the next 5 years. So the problem is only going to get worse.

Conversion rates for JobBoards from mobile traffic are far lower than for desktop traffic.

Entering registration and uploading a CV file on a mobile device is difficult for candidates.

If the candidate is using an App they have to register/upload a CV on many job board sites to apply for several jobs.

User experience is therefore extremely poor when applying for a job on a mobile device.

The candidate will often revert to a desktop device to make the application, thereby increasing the divide between conversion rates and also encouraging drop out.

The Solution

Make it easy on mobile websites, and in mobile apps, to complete a job application on a variety of Job Boards.

Mobile users are no different to desktop users. They are the same people but using a different device. The difference in application rate is due to the user experience being poor.

Provide a universal Apply Gateway which allows an App to send the application information for a job (name,email, CV etc) via an API, or an application page and for the Job Board (who owns the job) to then be able to pick up the application information for that candidate (via an API) and to then register the candidate and make the job application.

The candidate on the App will only have to register once (Upload their CV etc) and will then be able to apply with one click to jobs on all supported job boards.

Candidates will be unaware of the technology transferring the job data so it will be a seamless application process for them.

Candidates will be alerted that they have applied for a job on a specific job board and will be receiving con rmation emails from that board.

This greatly improves the candidate experience and will allow them to do one click applies to millions of global jobs.

Technical Integration – Job Boards

An API is available to pick up the applications, to register the candidate and to complete the job application. The candidate can then be emailed the confirmations.

The job board will return data via the API with the relevant success or error codes.

Provide a universal Apply Gateway which allows an App to send the application information for a job (name,email, CV etc) via an API, or an application page and for the Job Board (who owns the job) to then be able to pick up the application information for that candidate (via an API), to then register the candidate and make the job application.

Success codes will include whether the user is a new user, user already exists, successful application, application already exists etc. We can then use this for reporting.

There will also be a configuration option to specify which data fields are required by the job board as these vary. (eg postcode, salary etc).

Automatic application and registration is available during the test phase.

Technical Integration – App

The App can choose to either link to the apply gateway application page url for each job or to collect the CV file and data themselves and post this data via the Application API.

If they collect the data themselves they will need to use the API to get any JobBoard specific data fields and collect that data to transmit via the API (this can then be stored so its not required next time). There is a variety of fields required by different job boards.

Apps can use XML job feeds direct from the Job Board and will provide the landing page urls and any unique job identifiers provided by the Job Board to allow application processing.

There will be Apply Gateway feeds also available for some job offers.

Requirements / Feeback

We are able to offer automated posting for Job Boards and an online application form for Apps which means to test the systems there is no technical integration required at all.

We do though encourage Job Boards to migrate to using the API when they can to improve performance.

Each client will get an account manager and a tech contact at Apply Gateway and we require a tech contact and an account manager contact at each of the clients (JobBoards/Apps) so we can quickly resolve any issues.

Extra Modules

We are developing a filter module that can compare the job description and the applicants CV and score the relevance.

By using this we can, on a clients request, filter poor quality CVs so that they are not sent on to the client.

We can also pass on this data to JobBoards if they wish to rank applications.

We will also add this into the reporting which can also help supplier ranking.
